Job Description


Assesses patient and family to plan wound care and teaching from the physical and emotional aspect.


Assesses and assures utilization of principles of rehabilitation, teaching, and learning for patient, family, and nursing staff.


Prepares instructions for patients, families, and nursing staff for care of ostomies, draining wounds, and skin problems.


Institutes pre and post-operative management of ostomies, internal reservoirs, draining wounds, perineal wounds, fistulas, and demonstrates care techniques to patients, families, and nursing staff.


Serves as a liaison between patients, community agencies, and the healthcare team and as a resource person for the nursing staff and physicians in the implementation of ostomy and wound care with knowledge and skill of the developmental needs of the adult and special needs of the geriatric population.
