Job Description

**This position is Part-Time Evenings/Nights with an every other weekend requirement. 8 hour shifts.

Hours 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (with some flexibility) 16 hours weekly with no benefits.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assesses resident care requirements on all lodges by making rounds and other areas of campus.
  • Assesses staffing plan for lodges and makes needed changes based on acuity, resident staffing and available staff.
  • Provides immediate follow up, documentation and communication of all incidents and/or urgent concerns to Nursing Director/Assistant Nursing Director.
  • Acts as a resource in identifying and solving administrative and operational problems.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing and lodge staff to solve problems in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Receives report from off-going supervisor and gives report to oncoming supervisor.
  • Assists nursing with hospital transfers, discharges, admissions, medical/psychiatric emergencies, risk assessments and investigation of incidents.
  • Assists to replace nursing staffing for call offs or increase staffing due to acuity.
  • Performs rounds to each lodge at least twice a shift to monitor operations.
  • Assists nursing in assessing residents with acute changes and makes recommendations in resident care as needed.
  • Responds to all campus codes and assists as necessary.
  • Serves as a resource to staff in solving clinical, administrative and customer service issues.
  • Provides support to Admissions/Access in supporting new residents, welcoming to lodges and assessing census.
  • Knowledge of admission criteria and admission process.
  • Provides prompt follow up regarding resident/family concerns and 72 Hours Release/AMA request using Rapid Response Protocol. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 

Education/Experience

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience
  • Working knowledge of lodge operations
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude during difficult or critical situations.
