Job Description

  • Demonstrate teamwork through seeking, accepting, and presenting new ideas with vision, foresight and

  • Perform job within productivity guidelines of job description while being cost effective, conserving
  •                resources, timely completing and following through on tasks according to established procedures and directions.
  • Assess situations and respond appropriately through prioritization and organization of tasks in order to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate competence by giving appropriate rationale for actions taken.
  • Demonstrate competence in correctly giving prescribed medication.
  • Report pertinent information and/or changes in patient condition to physician, DON, and/or on-call nurse as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and reviews as assigned.
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge of psychiatric nursing and maintain the highest quality of comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilize the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate professional skills and perform the tasks needed to maintain a therapeutic milieu and optimum patient care.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is consistent with leadership.
  • Document nursing care provided, maintain appropriate records related to patients' progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner (i.e., I/A reports, EPS, AIMS, worker's compensation reports, restraint/seclusion, etc.)
  • Transcribe physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete medication discrepancy form and notify doctor when they occur.
  • Complete shift report sheet daily and report staffing problems to DON.
  • Follows all safety policies and adhere to all worker's compensation program guidelines.
  • Complete admission nursing assessments, quarterly nursing assessments and annual nursing assessments as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Complete individualized nursing care plans as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
