Job Description

Must be at least 21 years of age.

    1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    2. Must be currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas
    3. Must be flexible with work schedule to ensure efficient operations and willing to work weekends.
    4. Prefer one-year experience working with children and adolescents with emotional/behavioral disturbances.
    5. Must have one year supervisory experience.
    6. Must have a valid driver’s license.
    7. Walking; reaching; bending; pushing; pulling; lifting heavy loads (i.e., at least 50 pounds).
    8. Provide administration supervision, leadership, guidance, and feedback to LPN’s.
    9. Demonstrate teamwork through seeking, accepting, and presenting new ideas with vision, foresight and patient sensitivity.
    10. Perform job within productivity guidelines of job description while being cost effective, conserving resources, and completing tasks according to established procedures and directions.
    11. Assess situations and respond appropriately through prioritization and organization of tasks in order to achieve positive outcomes.
    12. Demonstrate competence in administering prescribed medication correctly.  
    13. When indicated, complete medication discrepancy form and notify physician when errors occur.
    14. Report pertinent information and/or changes in patient condition to physician or DON as appropriate and in a timely manner.
    15. Participate in team staffing and reviews as assigned.
    16. Demonstrate ongoing clinical knowledge of psychiatric nursing and maintain a high quality of comprehensive patient care.
    17. Utilize the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care plans.
    18. Demonstrate professional skills and perform the tasks needed to maintain a therapeutic milieu and optimum patient care.
    19. Demonstrate behavior that is consistent with strong leadership skills.
    20. In a timely manner document-nursing care provided and maintain appropriate records related to patient progress and incidents (i.e., I/A reports, EPS, AIMS, worker’s compensation reports, restraint/seclusion, etc.).
    21. Transcribe physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
    22. Complete shift reports and report staffing problems to Director of Nursing.
    23. Provide guidance and leadership with all episodes of Special Procedures.
    24. Follow the Special procedures policy, completing duties of the RN as outlined.
    25. Complete RN assessments in a timely manner.
    26. Utilize the nursing process by reviewing care plans, which include assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
    27. Must be able to complete full therapeutic (TCI) program and perform all required procedures.
    28. Must be able to complete full CPR/First Aid and perform all required procedures.
    29. Provide care and/or conduct patient/resident interactions in an age/cultural appropriate manner.
    30. Follows all safety policies and adheres to all workers’ compensation program guidelines.
