As Director of Nursing (RN) at Highland Ridge, you will play an instrumental role in our effort to provide the best possible service to individuals and families who turn to us in times of need.

The Director of Nursing (RN) is responsible for overseeing the nursing department at our acute care facility. You’ll work both independently and as part of an experienced team to plan, direct, and implement all nursing services to ensure that the patients we care for achieving the best possible outcomes. As Director of Nursing (RN) you’ll have the chance to do the most meaningful work of your career in a field that provides an essential service to those who are struggling with addiction and mental health concerns. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sets the vision for nursing practice in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable and patient-centered care.
  • Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
  • Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrate a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team and on committees as required.
  • Manage the daily operations of nursing services.
  • Ensure nursing services are provided in compliance with the laws and regulations of federal, state and local governmental agencies.  Standards are met for accrediting agencies.
  • Integrate nursing functions with clinical and programs, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Provide effective and efficient budget management that ensures the best utilization of resources.
  • Evaluate service needs and staffing requirements to ensure the needs of patients are met.
  • Provide effective staff management (hiring, development, training, performance feedback, etc.) that ensures the utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of the patients. 
  • Develop and implement health care related training that assures the best possible delivery of health-related supports and services. Review training at least annually and makes modifications as needed. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Monitor unit/floor functioning by making frequent rounds.
  • Intervene in crisis situations and investigate incidents.
  • Develop and implement tools to measure, assess and improve quality of nursing care, treatment and service.
  • Actively participate in strategic planning and budget development.
  • Oversee nursing services documentation to ensure it meets all standards.
  • Assists with direct care as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors of Nursing required; Master's degree preferred;
  • Three or more years of psych nursing experience required
  • Two or more years of nursing management or administrative experience required
  • Previous experience in standalone psychiatric healthcare, mental health or behavioral health highly preferred
  • Familiar with designing and implementing regulatory and compliance standards
  • Must be a problem solver with great organizational and communication skills; someone who wants to build!

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. 
  • First Aid, CPR, de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
