Job Description

**This position is part-time days, three-8-hr shifts per week with an every other weekend requirement.  Shift hours 7a-3:30p.  This position comes with paid time off accruals but no medical insurance benefits.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with Timberline Knolls’ Clinical and Operating Procedures and   Policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining a safe environment for resident being observed. Able to verbalize warning      signs and communicate concerns/observations to RN.

  • Establishes collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary clinical team including, physicians, nurses,     PCT’s, behavioral health   specialists, and promotes teamwork.

  • Has knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory standards including DCFS for adolescent lodge, Joint        Commission, Mental Health Code and DHS Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

  • Monitors and/or implements safe, quality health care in the following areas according to policy and procedure under   the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

  • Filing reports and information into the resident charts in a timely manner.

  • Reporting immediately any changes in physical or psychological status of resident to RN. 

  • Maintains a professional and therapeutic relationship with the resident.

  • Follows all procedures related to the exposure and infection control plan.

  • Maintains resident safety by appropriate implementation of safety procedures and precautions.

  • Recognizes precursors of potential crisis and/or acting out behaviors of residents and intervenes in the early stages of escalation.  Adheres to all standards of crisis management and safety.

  • Assumes the role of resident advocate according to guidelines in the Resident Rights, Confidentiality Act and Resident Grievance policy.  Addresses any ethical issues.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Psychiatric experience preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

  • Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, during shift.

  • Required to occasionally lift/move objects and/or resident weighing in excess of 40 lbs.

  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.

  • Work is performed in designated clinical setting.

  • Duties may involve contact with resident who may be threatening, aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
