Job Description

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the nursing units during a given shift worked.  They are responsible for directing patient care, facilitating work flow, serving as a clinical resource for staff, and for providing team leadership on a shift-to-shift basis.  

The Nurse Supervisor assumes direct care for patients as well as directing the care for other nurses and members of the care team.  They make patient rounds, match nursing competencies with patient needs, monitor document and compliance with standards and promote patient and environmental safety.  Additionally, they relieve floor nurses during breaks and meal periods and respond to consumer concerns. 

Qualifications:
 Excellent communication, organizational, and problem resolution skills.
 Diplomacy, tact and a calm, positive approach are required.
 Ability to lead a team to deliver patient care
 Fulfill responsibilities within the registered nurse job description

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in nursing practice
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment, inpatient or outpatient, preferred.  
  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing, bachelor’s degree preferred

 Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Washington State Registered Nursing licensure] without restrictions
  • Current Health Care Provider CPR Certification
  • Crisis prevention training on hire and ongoing
  • Certification in psychiatric or substance abuse nursing, ie. Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (PMHN), Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN), preferred
