Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative supervision to milieu staff and collaborates daily lodge operational tasks with the Charge Nurse.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with Timberline Knolls’ clinical and operating procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of eating disorders, chemical dependency and other DSM-IV-TR Diagnoses, and demonstrates competency in providing and implementing resident care.
  • Establishes collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary clinical team, including psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, behavioral health specialists, dietitian, and expressive therapists, and promotes teamwork.
  • Has knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory standards, including DCFS for adolescent lodge, Joint Commission, Mental Health Code and DHS Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
  • Provides support to Charge Nurses when needed in monitoring, and/or implementing safe, quality health care in the following areas according to policy and procedure:
  • Accurately transcribes and implements physician orders and medication orders.
  • Communicates effectively with the external pharmacy in obtaining medication to meet resident needs in a timely fashion.
  • Follows medication administration, storage and documentation procedures.
  • Accurately administers prescribed resident care/medical treatments.
  • Accurately transcribes laboratory orders and collects specimens.
  • Communicates effectively in giving and receiving information from the external lab.
  • Adheres to all required nursing documentation according to policies and procedures, including Nursing Assessments, RN Clinical Notes, Medication Teaching, Detoxification Protocols, Treatment Plans, etc.

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS            

  1. Registered nurse with a current Illinois license.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of eating disorders, chemical dependency and other DSM-IV-TR Diagnoses and demonstrates competency in providing and implementing resident care.
  3. Ability to actively participate in an interdisciplinary team.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  5. Current certification in health care provider CPR.
  6. Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
  7. Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.
  8. Work is performed in designated clinical and program settings.
  9. Duties may involve contact with resident who may be threatening, aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING

  1. Work is performed on AM, PM and weekends.
  2. Work is performed in the residential setting and activities or facilities in the community.
  3. Duties involve contact with residents that may be threatening, aggressive, suicidal, and/or under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
  4. Available to work additional hours when necessary.
  5. Requires flexibility in scheduling and travel including occasional overnight travel.
