Job Description

White Deer Run of Blue Mountain, an adult co-ed Drug and Alcohol residential rehab facility located in Kempton, PA, has an immediate opening for  Medical Assistants/CNA/EMT.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, The EMT/CNA Technician is responsible to act as a patient support and monitor to assist the clinical team. The EMT/CNA is responsible for assessing client’s vital signs to aid the clinical team in decision to transfer clients to the assigned rehab unit. The EMT/CNA Technician provides basic emergency medical care and possesses emergency skills to assess a patient’s cardiac and manage respiratory, cardiac and trauma emergencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1) Accurately obtains vital signs on patients including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure, will then record them appropriately.2) Assesses patients for withdrawal and reports all findings to the charge nurse and Lead Counselor or Supervisor.3) Maintains positive interpersonal interactions.4) Assists with the completion of the patient biopsychosocial assessment.5) Facilitates Structured Group Activities independently as scheduled.6) Assists with orientation of new patients and ongoing contact with patients to help facilitate calm operation of the treatment units.7) Documents patient activities and behaviors.8) Documents client activities and behaviors, and evaluates client performance using the unit “level system.\u00229) Follows the directions of the Lead Counselor and supervisor of the respective shift.10) Indicates immediate response to first alarm as well as other emergency situations at the facility in accordance with the policy of procedure manual.11) Assists in filing documents in patient’s charts and transfer of documents as necessary to the assigned units.12) Responsible for accurate documentation on patient charts.13) Attends ongoing education and training as determined by the Lead Counselor and other clinical supervisors.14) Monitors patient activities and whereabouts including bed checks on evening shift.15) Monitors role calls and locating/reporting patients not in attendance.16) Crisis intervention within the assigned unit and keeping Program Director/Lead Counselor/Supervisor informed of each abnormal situation arising on the shift17) Answers the phone, monitors clients, aids clinical team in assessing withdrawal symptoms of clients.18) Assists with paperwork, aiding clients in maintaining their individual daily schedule, maintaining daily functioning of the unit.19) Conducts thorough searches of incoming patients and their belongings. This search includes the documentation of the search process and confiscated items, enforcing the contraband list and placing the luggage in the appropriate location20) Secures patient luggage on discharge.21) Assists in the organization reports, notes and other information required by the counselor on assigned unit when client is transferred to unit.22) Assists in obtaining required medical charts and/or other data from other facilities.RequirementsExperience in the drug and alcohol field preferredEducation & TrainingHigh School Graduate or Equivalent requiredAssociates degree or higher in a human services related field could be substituted for the experience requirement.Bachelor’s level technicians who hold a degree in a human services related field are eligible for a higher starting pay rate Licensure, Certification & RegistrationEMT/CNA CertificationCPR Certification.Other RequirementsGood verbal and written communications skills.Good organizational skills.Effective communication skills with patients, staff, physicians, families and the public.Ability to be flexible in adjusting to new and rapidly changing situations.Must have ability to remain calm in every situation.Ability to work well with others as a member of a team.EOEDRUG FREE WORKPLACE
