Manager-Director of Intake

As Nashville continues to struggle with an overwhelming need for mental health care, state officials have approved plans for a new behavioral health facility in the city’s Metro Center area.

The 76-bed hospital, a joint venture from Saint Thomas Health and Acadia Healthcare, is expected to open in 2020. The facility will include 40 adult psychiatric beds, providing inpatient care and substance abuse services, and 36 geriatric psychiatric beds, the release said.

Position Summary:

This position will manage the conduct of the Assessment and referral function of the hospital. Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the staff conducting admission clinical assessments and referral services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to the Admission and Referral and Nursing staff responsible for completing the assessment and admission process.
  • Assessment and Referral quality improvement activities including reporting to the Quality Improvement Committee quarterly.
  • Maintains understanding of accreditation and licensure standards relating to the Assessment and Referral Department.
  • Complete the Intake Report and Daily Admissions. Discuss the reports at the Flash Meeting (Monday-Friday).
  • Prepare and revise Assessment and Referral policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain an adequate understanding of the involuntary and voluntary admission criteria, process, and related laws.
  • Complete clinical assessments for individuals presenting to the hospital. Use clinical judgment to determine if the individual meets criteria for the services provided.
  • Complete admission documentation and explain patient rights to the patient, parent, legal guardian, and/or family members. Forward appropriate admission documentation to Utilization Review and the Business Office in a timely fashion.
  • When appropriate, refer the individual to an alternate level of care based on the needs and the wishes of the person.
  • Complete all related admission documentation, insurance verification, and pre-certification when appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with the physician to give a verbal report on the patient’s condition and to receive admission orders and/or instructions.
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement and the judicial system to ensure that the patient receives the care needed.
  • Provide the patient, family members, referral sources, significant others with assessment and voluntary/involuntary admission information.
  • Responsible for maintaining department budget and participates in budget planning for facility.

Job Requirements

  • Unlicensed Masters Prepared In Behavioral Health Field; Preferred: Licensed Masters Prepared.
  • Prefer fully licensed LPC or RN with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree but not required.
  • Prefer previous experience in Admissions and counseling, 3 years manager/director experience.
