7am-3:30pm and/or 3:00pm to 11:pm shifts

  • Coordinates in a timely manner issues or activities relevant to:

  • Keeps supervisor apprised of:

  • Accurately processes physician orders.
  • Provides nursing care according to physician/extender orders.
  • Provides nursing care in conformance with established standards and nursing policies.
  • Performs accurate initial nursing assessment.
  • Performs accurate ongoing nursing assessment.
  • Notifies physician/extender of significant changes in the patient.
  • Develops nursing care plans to meet patient needs.
  • Documents complete nursing progress notes.
  • Explains planned therapy and treatment to the patient.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Utilizes correct hand washing techniques.
  • Accurately administers medications.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of controlled substance.
  • Accurately performs veni-puncture.
  • Correctly performs dressing changes.
  • Provides direction and leadership in patient care to assigned personnel.
  • Responds therapeutically to inappropriate patient behaviors.
  • Demonstrates ability to teach peers new procedures.
  • If PRN status, responds to requests for assistance with staffing.

Education - Graduate from an NLN approved nursing school.

Experience - Considerable knowledge/experience in nursing philosophy, policy, practices and procedures.

Certifications - CPR/CPI (offered on site).

Licenses - Licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Florida.

Special Requirements - Knowledge of chemical dependency and dual diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation requirements.

Age/Gender Specifics - Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dual diagnosed population.

Physical/Emotional Demands/Working Conditions:

Work is sedentary or ambulant. Must read, write, speak English fluently.  Occasional physical exertion (lifting 30 or more pounds, walking, standing, etc.) to support patient weight in case of emergency situation or patient disability requiring assistance in walking, standing, etc.  Must be able to see, stoop, sit, stand, bend and reach.  Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, elderly, hostile people as needed.  Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with the medical, nursing, clinical and other staff. Must be emotionally stable and exhibit ability to display coping skills.  Risk of exposure to infections and contagious/blood borne diseases.  Exposed to varying and unpredictable situations (i.e., patient behavior).  Subject to work schedule and shift change.
