Licensed Practical Nurse

We are a growing, private, 134-bed psychiatric hospital that is dedicated to providing high-quality care for adults, geriatrics, and adolescents (ages 11-17) who are suffering from behavioral health and chemical dependency issues. Our patients recover at our new, state-of-the art medical facility in the Seven Hills area of Henderson, Nevada. Henderson is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and is located just 7 miles from the famed Las Vegas Strip and a couple of miles from beautiful Lake Mead.

Join the team of highly dedicated mental health professionals. We are presently looking for a Full Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who will be responsible for the coordination of psychiatric nursing care and nursing care for any comorbidities of patients ages 5 years through geriatrics and provision of leadership for ancillary nursing personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for the safe preparation, administration, and documentation of medication. Monitors and reports behaviors to the RN and obtains vital signs, monitors nutritional intake, sleep patterns and other indicators of mental/behavioral status and documents per SHH’s policies.

Key functions include:

  • Works as a part of the multidisciplinary team

  • Complete ”Focused Nursing Assessments” such as but not limited to a Mental Status Exam.

  • Develop strategies for helping patients to be as independent as possible

  • Plan, implement and document physical and mental health nursing care plans

  • Evaluate and update nursing care plans as needed

  • Provide nursing care as needed

  • Administer and assess the effects of prescribed medications and treatments

  • Utilize web-based, pyxis and written information to identify drug interactions/contraindications/side effects

  • Observe and report behavioral changes

  • Encourage patients to participate in interpersonal and other therapeutic activities to enhance their interpersonal skills

  • Ability to proficiently perform venipuncture

  • Interpret laboratory and diagnostic test results and inform physician

  • Possess good working knowledge of nursing process and nursing diagnosis, medical

  • Must be able to proficiently read written physician’s orders and take/transcribe telephone/verbal/written physician’s orders and seek clarification of any orders that may be unclear before implementing these orders

  • Conduct individual screenings/triage and seek medical review for potential hospital admission or referral to other healthcare providers as needed

  • Obtain and document health history and make nursing diagnosis based on nursing assessment

  • Monitor patient response to ordered medical/therapy/nursing interventions and document responses in patient’s medical record

 Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing

  • At least one year related experience, preferably in a hospital setting.

  • Licensed as a LPN in the State of Nevada in good standing.
