Overview

Health Information Management (HIM) Director

Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital is a 103-bed behavioral health and substance abuse treatment hospital located in the heart of South Georgia. We offer inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programming for adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with depressionanxietybipolar disorderbehavioral issues, and other mental health illnesses.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and oversees all Health Information Management activities.
  • Assists and advises Administration and the Medical Staff in developing and maintaining health information management programs in keeping with state licensure and accreditation standards.
  • Develops policies and procedures for all aspects of the Health Information Management Department.
  • Initiates tracking sheets for medical staff members who have incomplete entries in medical records at time of discharge.
  • Accurately code all diagnoses, procedures, co-morbidities and complications according to acceptable ICD-10-CM coding principles and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with established and new coding guidelines.
  • Process physician reports needed to code appropriately and accurately. Process physician deficiencies.
  • Release of medical records requests according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to state and federal laws and regulations and established policy and procedures.
  • Attends hospital orientation, staff meetings and keeps all yearly mandatories up-to-date as required.
  • Organize chart to charge meeting and report results to CFO/RM.
  • Perform chart audits for denied billing/coding.
  • Leads Coding Team in process improvements to achieve best practice standard Develops and maintains compliant coding policies, procedures and orientation manual.
  • Manages weekly productivity standards and provides feedback to staff.
  • Supervises coding of diagnoses and procedures using classification systems along with abstracting.
  • Serves as the Privacy Officer and educate employees on HIPPA compliance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT preferred.
  • Coding Certification - Required.
  • 2 years management experience required and 5+ years of HIM experience preferred.
