Overview

Full-Time Psychiatrist

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the supervision, administration, and assurance of delivery of high quality care in the Department of Psychiatry. This includes the functioning of the multi-disciplinary teams, quality assurance and assurance of best practices, and assistance in business and financial planning, financial management, and clinical service delivery. Responsible for assuring the high level delivery of the various residency programs and academic programs that the department is associated with. Position is also responsible for helping to support a clinically integrated physician organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Department Management:
  • Promotes and participates in a collaborative interdisciplinary leadership team.
  • Works with Section Chiefs to ensure that departmental performance meets or exceeds standards described in medical staff rules and regulations, by-laws, departmental policies, Joint Commission recommendations, state and federal standards and requirements.
  • Works with senior leadership team and others to develop and achieve objectives for improvement, growth, and expansion of services.
  • Works with hospital administration and Nursing leadership to develop a team of physician and nurse leaders for the department.
  • In conjunction with leadership team, helps build enthusiasm, stability, teamwork, and competence among employees.
  • Ensures departmental policies are known, understood and implemented by the department staff physicians.
  • Participates in human resources, purchasing, and procedural changes in the department in cooperation with appropriate human resources, hospital leadership.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, Facilities, the Administrative Director and RHPN Administration ensures that the administrative and clinical onboarding of new providers at the practice site is completed within a reasonable timeframe (30 days from start date). New hire clinical onboarding will include a 30, 60 and 90-day evaluation with clear direction and definition of objectives that are rooted to the goals and values of Reading Health Physician Network.
  • Is available for counseling, advice, information, and general support to physicians and other department members.

  1. Administration and Supervision:
  • Receives feedback on employees’ progress and completes annual performance reviews.
  • Mentors medical personnel in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Reviews and monitors clinical records to ensure compliance with professional standards.
  • Encourages professional development through in-service education, conferences, and case conferences.
  • Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of all new clinical staff.
  • Acts as liaison for department with other professionals, hospital departments and personnel.

 

  1. Planning:
  • Participates in short and long term planning activities.
  • Develops and executes new policies and plans.
  • Serves as de-facto member (or assigns membership) of all continuous quality improvement teams.
  • Assures clinical compliance with best practice industry standards.
  • Assists in the fiscal, budgetary, and program growth planning for the department and all of its components to ensure adequate resources as well as fiscal responsibility. Is responsible for ensuring department meets budget targets.
  • Responsible for maintaining interdepartmental communication on clinical issues.
  1. Academic Activities:
  • Oversees the work of the department Residency Director and participates in teaching, research, and professional activities in industry associations and public relation activities as deemed necessary for the benefit of the organization.
  • Works with others to ensure the department’s participation in state-wide and national clinical pilot programs.
  • Design and promote CME and other educational activities for medical and other professional staff.
  • Develops and maintains academic affiliations with medical schools and other professional schools relevant to the department.
  • Oversees coordination of residency, medical student clerkship, and physician assistant/nurse practitioner rotations.
  • Promotes quality evaluation activities by the professional staff of the department.
  • Oversees and supports coordination of graduate medical and undergraduate medical and professional education with other RHS programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctor of Medicine or Psychiatry degree from an accredited university.
  • Board certification in chosen specialty.
  • Meets all requirements for annual continuing medical education (CME).

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Works with CEO, COO, CMO, CFO, CAO, SVP Strategy & Business Development, Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers, Staff Physicians, Clinical and Non-Clinical Staff.
