Headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia Healthcare was established in January 2005 to develop and operate a network of behavioral health facilities across the country.  Acadia provides psychiatric and chemical dependency services to its patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, specialty treatment facilities, residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics and therapeutic school-based programs.

Acadia is a provider of behavioral healthcare services. As of September 30, 2019, Acadia operates a network of 589 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 18,000 beds in 40 states, the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico. Acadia provides behavioral health and addiction services to its patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, specialty treatment facilities, residential treatment centers and outpatient clinics.


Position Summary:

The Benefit Specialist is responsible for supporting the Benefit Manager in all areas of the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, accident, critical illness, flexible spending plan, health savings plan and 401k). Provide excellent customer service to the Human Resource team in the field.

As needed, provides special guidance and assistance to the Human Resource team at all locations on various employee benefit plans. Provide analytical and technical support in the administration process of the benefit programs.

  •  Provide customer support to HR team in the field.
  •  Assist with daily benefit processing, to include; enrollments, qualifying events, COBRA, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, QMSCO, compliance testing.
  •  Assist in the maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records via weekly benefit file upload.
  •  Assist with timeliness and accuracy of required filings and notices, to include; CMS, Medicare Part D, 5500.
  •  Assist with the processing of monthly billing and preparation for payment for all group benefit plans.
  •  Assists in the administrative functions of the benefit plan renewal process.
  •  Provide assistance with correcting Error Reports that are generated from electronic benefit files sent to carriers, to include; Medical, Dental, Vision, COBRA, FSA, 401k and UNUM.
  •  Provide support to corporate employees for all benefit related questions, issues and concerns.
  •  Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
  •  Assist in the maintenance of administrative functions for assigned benefit processes.
  •  Assist with benefit projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and five to seven years of benefit related experience or equivalent work experience required.
  • 401K and HRIS Experience Required.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • HRIS systems experience.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
