Assistant Director of Nursing

We are presently looking for a full time Assistant Director of Nursing who will be responsible for assisting in the overall assessment, implementation of treatment, and evaluation of quality clinical services for patients. Responsible for the daily administration of tasks, scheduling and problem solving related to assigned areas. Position provides leadership to the hospital staff in the absence of the Director of Nursing/ Chief Nursing Officer.   Responsible for the coordination of care resources, problem resolution, adequate staffing and communication to Department Directors and Administration with issues or concern. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and provides professional oversight of the Nursing Department
  • Schedules or facilitates the scheduling of department staff
  • Assists in establishing, revising, and interpreting applicable nursing policies and procedures
  • Identifies, proposes solutions, and assists in implementation of ideas for improvements in patient care and department/hospital operations
  • Oversees, establishes, revises, and provides training for nursing staff;
  • Ensures hospital maintains regulatory compliance relative to Nevada Department of State Health Services, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and ADA
  • Ensures staff compliance with regulatory agency requirements
  • Establishes clear expectations for supervised staff and holds them accountable for results
  • Identifies poor and positive performance and acts as first line coach providing feedback and counseling
  • Keeps staff informed by frequent communication of policy changes, organizational goals, customer service issues, and department performance issues
  • Ability to support the strategic goals of the department and the hospital
  • Completes staff competencies and evaluations in a timely manner
  • Reviews patient charts for appropriateness and accuracy
  • Mentors staff on the day-to-day resolution of issues and concerns

Qualifications:

Education:

At least Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.

Licensure:

Nevada RN license

Experience:

At least 3 years’ nursing experience in a hospital setting, preferably in psychiatric hospital.

Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory/management experience required.
