Job Description

  • Participates in the daily operations of the Utilization Review/Admissions Department.
  • Demonstrates understanding of referral sources and provide linkage between the referral source and clinical team.
  • Process all necessary paperwork on all new patients in a timely manner and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Obtain all clinical pertinent information (including but not limited to: demographics and insurance information, clinical intake assessment information, or other information as directed) on incoming patients by interviewing patients (or their families) in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Answer and screen all inquiry calls. Follows-up on inquiry calls to schedule potential admissions.
  • Verifies insurance benefits if necessary.
  • Collects clinical data to facilitate admission process.
  • Ensures that admission forms are signed correctly and are placed in the medical record.
  • Develop and maintain a positive work climate and support the overall mission of the facility.
  • Function as a core member of the health care team.
  • Regularly communicate with other team members and interface in a positive, constructive, and helpful manner to promote cohesiveness, reduce conflict, and provide for resolution.
  • Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients.
  • Adhere to Pacific Grove Hospital’s policy on dress code, including the wearing of the identification badge.
  • Participate in department in-service/training programs.
  • Follow through with special assignments and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Admissions, or CEO/ Administrator.
  • Recognizes signs and symptoms of intoxication from different substances.
  • Ability to identify and respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies.
  • Working knowledge of DSM V.
