Job Description


Responsible for providing therapy to residents and their families. Provides services as a member of the inter-disciplinary treatment team, coordinating with the Attending Psychiatrist and other team members.   • Conducts an initial assessment and establishes treatment goals for identified residents.
  • Conducts initial family history/assessment and establishes family treatment goals.
  • Provides individual psychotherapy two times each week, and family therapy one time each week to an assigned caseload of residents.
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure team treatment and a therapeutic milieu.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with assigned residents to facilitate the treatment process.
  •  Provides effective communication during the shift through activity such as:
    • Participates in report and utilizes information to provide quality care;
    • Communicates milieu and resident issues to the treatment team members during the shift and problem solves effectively;
    • Ensures compliance with confidentiality of resident information.
  •  Takes lead as chief author, with the medical and nursing staffs, in writing the treatment plan of for the implementation of care according to residential program policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required documentation according to policies and procedures and ensures that daily clinical notes document the resident’s progress in meeting their treatment goals.
  • Supports the nursing staff and behavioral health specialists identifying the precursors of potential crisis and unsafe resident behavior, and intervenes to de-escalate residents utilizing the least restrictive means of intervention.
  • Provides consultation to psycho-education groups to support the milieu treatment program.
  • Participates in community outreach and marketing activities for Timberline Knolls and promotes exceptional customer service throughout the program.
  • Ensures active resident and family participation in the treatment process.
  • Reviews resident and staff satisfaction surveys and customer complaints and the results of monitoring standards. Initiates corrective action as indicated and monitors identified quality improvements.
  • Ensures appropriate contact/communication is maintained with outpatient treatment teams, referral sources, and/or families as indicated and allowed by consent to ensure optimal care for residents.

Job Requirements

  • Oklahoma Licensed Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (or license-eligible within one year) with behavioral health treatment experience in hospital, therapeutic day school and/or residential settings.
  • Demonstrated skill in 12-Step and Family Systems Recovery Models with Adolescent and Young Adult Women Clients.
  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge of group behavior and dynamics.
  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards (Joint Commission, Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Code, DCFS)
