Your Job as a Substance Abuse Counselor Intern:

The Substance Abuse Counselor is instrumental in our patient’s treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Abuse Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor will plan, oversee, facilitate and document their patient's recovery as well as provide leadership and guidance for the activities of other personnel.

We have daily shifts that allow our employees to have stable schedules and enjoy quality time away from the facility. Shift hours are early mornings from 5:00am-1:30pm, allowing you to enjoy a great work/life balance.

Your Responsibilities as a Substance Abuse Counselor Intern:

  • Under the supervision of a licensed professional, may co-facilitate group or family sessions;
  • May be present and assist with initial assessments of patients;
  • May prepare, for review and approval by licensed professional, treatment plans for patients;
  • Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents are completed timely and in a clear, concise manner for review and approval by licensed professional;
  • May evaluate patient’s needs and, working with a licensed professional, may determine if referral to other programs or services is needed;
  • Other duties may be assigned by a licensed professional overseeing and responsible for the interns work, within the professional, legal and ethical parameters of the counseling internship

Job Requirements

Your Skills and Qualifications as a Substance Abuse Counselor Intern:

  • HS graduate or equivalent; seeking secondary education in a social or health services field from an accredited college or university
  • No previous experience in field required. Basic knowledge of counseling or therapeutic concepts acquired through education or training by an accredited college or university
