Your Job as a Risk Assistant:

The Risk Assistant provides administrative and secretarial support for Risk Management. In addition to typing, filing and scheduling, review of legal invoices for payment and data input, performs duties such as coordination of meetings and conferences, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. Support Claim Management by review and analysis data collection. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures. 

Your Responsibilities as a Risk Assistant:

  • Schedules and organizes activities such as meetings, travel, conferences and department activities for all members of the department
  • Maintaining schedules and calendars for the Chief Risk Officer and all other corporate risk staff
  • Establishes, develops, maintains and updates filing system. Retrieves information from files when needed
  • Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of information and calls
  • Answers phones, takes messages or fields/answers all routine and non-routine questions. Works in co-operation with other system development assistants to cover phones
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, including high-level staff such as hospital management, Human Resources and other team members. 
  • Types and designs general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc. Proofreads copy for spelling, grammar and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy
  • Manage data entry
  • Support medical records request and review
  • Supports Director of Insurance in the processing of Certificates of Insurance
  • Prepare, organize, analyze, and process documents, records and other evidence

Your Skills and

Job Requirements

as a Risk Assistant:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College or technical school coursework, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of job-related experience; preferably as part of an Executive team.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Accurate typing of 80+ words per minute.
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality.
