Job Description

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.       
  3. Must be currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Arkansas.
  4. Must be flexible with work schedule to ensure efficient operations and willing to work weekends.
  5. Prefer one-year experience working with children and adolescents with emotional/behavioral disturbances and/or mental retardation.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Provide direct resident care through utilization of nursing standards accurately and in a timely manner.
    2. Follow policies, procedures, and medical/lab protocol for nursing care and notify doctor of results accurately and in a timely manner.
    3. Implement infection control measures according to facility policies and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
    4. Report pertinent information and/or changes in the residents' condition to physician, DON, and/or on-call nurse as appropriate and in a timely manner.
    5. Provide resident, staff, and family education as related to medication, illness, etc.
    6. Participate in team conferences, staffings, and reviews as assigned.
    7. Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician accurately and in a timely manner
    8. Chart medication administration on the MAR and nurse's notes, if applicable, accurately and in a timely manner
    9. Order prescribed medication to ensure an adequate supply is available at all times.  
    10. Assist in obtaining verbal/written consents for psychotropic medications accurately and in a timely manner.
    11. Communicate with psychiatrist to report behaviors and obtain orders for restraints/special procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
    12. Document nursing care provided; maintain appropriate records related to residents' progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner (i.e., I/A reports, medical charts, worker's comp reports, etc).
    13. Complete resident admission assessment at the time of admission accurately and in a timely manner.
    14. Transcribe physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
    15. Ensure residents are monitored closely that are on visual contact, close observation, and/or 1-on-1.
    16. Teach sex and health education and self administrated-medications.
    17. Respond timely and appropriately in behavioral crisis.
    18. Check new orders and makes changes to print MARS at end of month.
    19. Schedule 1st shifts Dr. Appointments, follow-ups, vision, dental and ACH appointments and daily census records.
    20. Must be able to complete full therapeutic (TCI) program and perform all required procedures.
    21. Must be able to complete full CPR/First Aid and perform all required procedures.
    22. Provide care and/or conduct patient/resident interactions in an age/cultural appropriate manner.
    23. Follows all safety policies and adheres to all workers’ compensation program guidelines.
