Job Description


Responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing, other departments and the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all patient's needs are met. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards.


  • Serve as a member of the leadership team and on committees as required.
  • Serve as the leader to nursing department staff by providing support, guidance and information.
  • Manage the daily operations of nursing services.
  • Administrator on Call as assigned.
  • Ensure nursing services are provided in compliance with the laws and regulations of federal, state and local governmental agencies and with the standards, rules and regulations of various accrediting and approval agencies, including Joint Commission and CMS.
  • Integrate nursing functions with clinical and programs, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Provide effective and efficient budget management that ensures the best utilization of resources.
  • Evaluate service needs and staffing requirements to ensure needs of patients are met.
  • Provide effective staff management (hiring, development, training, performance feedback, etc.) that ensures utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of the patients.
  • Develop and implement health care related training that assures the best possible delivery of health related supports and services. Review training at least annually and makes modifications as needed.
  • Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Monitor unit/floor functioning by making frequent rounds.
  • Intervene in crisis situations and investigate incidents.
  • Develop and implement tools to measure, assess and improve quality of nursing care, treatment and service.
  • Actively participate in strategic planning and budget development.
  • Oversee nursing services documentation to ensure it meets all standards.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.


Master’s degree from an accredited program and at least three years of psychiatric/behavioral health experience with two years’ progressive managerial experience required.


Current state RN license is active and in good standing. CPR Certified per policy.
